Bianca Hartge-Hazelman - Financy. A little bit fancy
Meet Bianca Hartge-Hazelman, an inspirational mother of two (almost three), who juggles a family while taking on her own dreams and entrepreneurial adventures to empower women to become more financially independent.
After 10 years as a financial journalist working for the Australian Financial Review and Channel Nine's Financial Review Sunday show, Bianca braved up and left a successful career to start Financy.com.au - a finance website and money-making enabler for women.
“When you’re a financial journo the biggest audience segment are men, so when I started Financy I wanted it to be a bit fancy, with a bit of style in the hope of engaging a largely untapped and under supported of the market,” Bianca says.
“I have two kids and a third on the way, so it was partly because of them that I got started. I wanted to focus more on educating women (and girls) with money-making decisions so they too could achieve their goals - travel, education, investing, business or whatever their dreams might be.
“I firmly believe that if you encourage and mobilise more women into financial independence you give them more choices and help improve equality.”
While Bianca successfully manages to juggle a family with her business, she says having support structures in place is what ultimately makes it work.
“I've always had fantastic support. My hubby and I share parenting, that's the way we like it and why I feel confident in pursuing my dreams while growing a family. I also have an amazing mum and extended family.
“To be honest we’re so used to juggling that it’s become normal for us. We’re not a nine-to-five family. I think the key to success is to think outside traditional work hours - some days that means I start at 5am, which I actually love because it’s so quiet, but regardless of what time I start, I’m in bed by 9pm because sleep is what I believe enhances efficiency.”
